Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR) is a thermoset type polymers. It is made from the polymerization of di-carboxylic acids with glycols. Polymers are dissolved in a reactive monomer such as styrene to produce a liquid with low viscosity. When cured, the monomers react with unsaturated bonds in the polymers and convert them into solid thermoset structure.
In the composite industry, the use of Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR) is approximately 75% of total resins.
PT Justus Sakti Raya is currently the largest manufacturer of Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR) in Indonesia, under the trade name of YUKALAC® Unsaturated Polyester Resin. Our product is licensed from Showa Highpolymer Co.,Ltd. (Japan) and Polynt SpA (Italy). The total current production capacity is 40,000 tons/year.
PT Justus Sakti Raya produces several types of resins:
1. Ortho-phthalic Resin
This type of resin is resistant to water (normal temperature) and weak acids. One of our well known product is the YUKALAC® 157 BQTN-EX. It is very popular among boat builders in Indonesia. Other application fields range from marine vessels, sanitary wares, ornaments and others. YUKALAC® 157 BQTN-EX is LR Registered & FDA Certified. YUKALAC® 157 BQTN-EX is also BKI Certified.
2. Iso-phthalic Resin
This type of resin is resistant to acids, salts, weak alkalis and heat. Some of our well known products in this range are the YUKALAC® FW-21-EXL and YUKALAC® 150 HRN-EX. Application fields range from the manufacture of chemical resistant vessels, pipes, FRP linings and others. Iso-type resins YUKALAC® GELCOAT G-2141 T-EX and YUKALAC® GELCOAT G-123 T-EX are also commonly used as GELCOAT for marine products. YUKALAC® GELCOAT G-2141 T-EX and YUKALAC® GELCOAT G-123 T-EX are LR Registered. YUKALAC® GELCOAT G-2141 T-EX and YUKALAC® GELCOAT G-123 T-EX are also BKI Certified.
3. Bisphenolic Resin
This type of resin is resistant to acids, salts, alkalis and heat. Our well known product is YUKALAC® LP-1Q-EX.Application fields range from the manufacture of chemical resistant vessels, pipes, FRP linings and others.
